Women’s health is definitely becoming a larger part of the societal conversation, especially with the new White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research. For so long women have not been adequately represented in medical research, and it’s empowering to see this issue finally being tackled at a federal level.
In my experience, major challenges for women’s health in the next three years revolve around access to comprehensive reproductive health care and funding for research in conditions that more commonly impact women, such as autoimmune disease. As advocates we need to continue to convince relevant stakeholders about the utmost importance of women’s health.
A catalyst to address these challenges would be a campaign led by women’s health advocates and organizations around the globe to continue to raise awareness of women’s health needs and put positive pressure on stakeholders to take action.
